An important piece of legislation (the House Bill-1095) was signed by the Democratic Governor Jay Inslee which would allow qualified patients to use medical cannabis on school grounds. The new measure explicitly permits all those patients (who qualify to use and receive medical cannabis) access to marijuana-infused products while they are on school premises/grounds.
The specific wording used in the measure are as under:
"Parents or guardians are permitted to administer marijuana-infused products to the students while the student is on school grounds. The school districts are also mandated to permit a student (who is a qualified medical-cannabis patient) to consume marijuana-infused products.....on school grounds, abroad a school bus, or while attending a school-sponsored event."
It is expected that the new law will go into effect on July 27, 2019.
