An important piece of legislation (Senate Bill 1494) was signed into law by the Republican Gov. Doug Ducey; the legislation was aimed at amending the state's medical cannabis access program.
As per the new legislation which was signed into law, all the medical cannabis products that are sold at the state-licensed dispensaries should be independently lab tested. The deadline given for compliance of this law is November 1, 2020. For this purpose, only those testing labs should be selected that have no financial relationship with any dispensaries and should possess proper accreditation. In addition to this, the new measure also offers some relief to the medical cannabis cardholders in the form of reduced application fees.
It is estimated that about 200,000 patients are currently enrolled in the state's medical cannabis access program.
